Importance of a positive attitude for a better Performance!

Now I really hope all that I have typed here makes some sense to you!
They say “an apple a day keep the doctor away”. Well for dancers I’d say “A positive attitude today can simple brighten your day!” Don't you agree…? Then let’s see what a positive attitude can do for one on their Big Day!

There are those days where you feel you rule the stage and then there are some days where you just want to hide your face somewhere and wish that you never be found. I’m sure if you are a dancer you have definitely gone thru a situation where you have rehearsed an entire routine and then you have felt as if someone has sucked out the entire energy from your body …! You tend to forget the routine or sometimes may be just feel like you know nothing. Well here is something for those specific moments to help you out of your misery…!
The very first thing that comes to my mind is a very catchy dialogue from the movie ABCD (Any Body Can Dance) “A dancer dances to express and not impress”. If you did not know this well I suggest you ask yourself this question, why do you dance..? Dance is an art that comes from within and with practice you only make it stronger and more beautiful. You need to master the art but not by doing it to impress someone or the very least of it for money.

While dancers ability is at a superhuman level, their stamina and energy may not be at their highest level at every point. Everyone needs something to boost them up and everyone needs encouragement. You must make sure to have that in yourself. Always boost yourself rather than cry over spilt milk. It is one of the best positive motivations you can give yourself. Every time you stand up to dance wear the biggest costume dancers treasure “Your Smile”. Without your smile you are an incomplete performer. And as the saying goes “smile and the world will smile along with you”.

When we take up the decision to dance and express we should make sure we study the environment we are walking into. You cannot walk into a studio filled with frowny faced people. You are happy if your environment is happy. You are sad because your environment makes you feel that way. Your every emotion is derived from your surroundings, actions and expressions. Makes these positive and everything will set out in the right place at the right time.

I type from experience when I say in each of my Zumba® Fitness sessions I am forever positive. I'm sure you're wondering why? Well it’s only because I have smiling faces all around me and my performance gets only better each day …!

So well dancers, you definitely need a great positive attitude for a great performance at your class, on stage or anywhere you go..! Remember to wear a smile and the most positive vibe when you walk out the door.
