My involvement with Marian’s Zumba class and Zumba on the
whole, was purely coincidental.
I don’t remember the first time I heard about Zumba, but
I’m sure it was through some TV program sometime around 2011. The entire
concept of mixing dance with workout caught my interest, as I really wanted to
reduce weight but didn’t want to sign up for a mundane gym routine. But as I
searched around for Zumba classes close to home, the results showed how Zumba
was barely known in Mumbai, with a few studios in the city and miles away from
home. So, I gave up the idea.
A few years later, following Marian’s facebook post on
Zumba, I got news of her opening her own dance studio in June 2014. And, that
was when my journey with Zumba began. I have done yoga and aerobics before, but
Zumba was a totally different scene, and even better than I had anticipated.
Doing Zumba is nothing like a dull workout regime. You
dance and exercise, but the key word in Zumba is fun! Zumba hour is such an
enjoyable time that the session is filled with laughter and high-energy. As a blend
of various Latin dance forms, we are taken through an international blend of
routines that are interspersed with aerobic moves. What’s even better is the
Indian flavor that has spiced up Zumba.
Zumba with Marian has been an interesting and
entertaining experience. She organizes special classes to celebrate occasions
with contests, parties and more! Doing Zumba for over 6 months has enabled me
to lose weight and remain fit. Moreover, a delightful moment was when Marian gifted
me, her very own Zumba band for being a dedicated student. I am enthralled by
this contemporary form of workout and would love for Zumba to be an integral
part of my life.
