Belly dancing in the world is NOT done on stage by costumed professionals mostly but by "regular" people at various social gatherings, such as parties, weddings, anniversaries, and on other highlighting occasions!
Yup, that's right, people perform belly dance simply because they enjoy it & not to lose weight, to seduce men, and not because it is their source of income. Way back in the Middle East and surrounding Mediterranean regions where it is a part of cultural traditions, this is a dance of community and celebration, for people of ALL ages, shapes, sizes & recently sexes as well. From women to men to mixed genders everyone has been showing a keen interest in Belly Dance & much to our surprise it’s beautiful to see how different gender performances are uniquely distinguished from each other.
Yet another interesting fact
is that this dance form just happens to be a great low intensity exercise. It's
a graceful, entertaining yet expressive, creative yet interesting art form.
Belly Dance has been commended
for its countless health benefits. Many have been using it for the
purposes of healing (physical as well as emotional), meditation, weight loss and
a stress buster, improvisation of muscle tone, endurance, balance, flexibility,
body awareness, and coordination.
Belly dance has been a form that has explicitly helped many women to express their feminism and discover a whole new self. They have also gained self confidence along with feeling good beautiful and being a fun personality. Many women are now showing keen interest and willingness to learn this style of dancing due to its recent discovered health benefits. Belly Dance has the ability to transform and mould an individual and make them what they couldn’t be as a normal individual.
